A little over 5 years ago my family and I started on a journey that would change everything for us. In the Summer of 2014, I had finally had enough of living in survival mode so I started to take action. I started by reading the Power of Positive Thinking and following a few intentional living influencers on social media. Then I focused on decluttering my house, and before I knew it I was budgeting and knocking out debt. Fast forward another baby and a few months later, I was waking up before my kids to practice a morning routine, I was exercising, and actually enjoying healthy food for the first time in my adult life. Life was getting simpler, my marriage was improving, I had a crazy amount of free time, and for once I could actually think about my goals for the future…starting a business, retiring my husband early, and homeschooling our three daughters.
I had slowly broken free from survival mode…keyword being “slowly”. This didn’t happen overnight, it wasn’t a magical quick fix, but it worked. I put one foot in front of the other, day-after-day, for 5 years to get to the place I am today; a debt-free, minimalist, business-owner, homeschooler, personal-development obsessed, happy soul.
In this week’s episode, I’m sharing my story, plus what I wish someone would have told me at the beginning of my journey.
In this episode, I share about:

The nebulous idea of “enough” is the topic of conversation in the season 2 finale of A Sunny Side Up Life podcast. Most of us struggle with this concept very early in our lives, as we begin to understand complex topics and facts of life like class, race, and inequity. But how do we handle not being enough as adults when not reaching “enoughness” has real mental, physical and psychological ramifications? I also chat about different investing accounts, income limits and tax advantages, and where you can go online to start educating yourself about investing.
